MASITHETHE February 2019

VISIT TO BOTSWANA CLC NATIONAL ASSEMBLY

Kaye, Sabie and Fr Graham attended the National Assembly of CLC Botswana from 24-27 January. Kaye reports as follows: I am really grateful for the opportunity to have attended the National Assembly of CLC in Botswana with Fr. Graham and Sabie. After our long drive from Johannesburg and a minor delay when we got stuck in the sand shortly before our arrival at the centre, and the rescue by a local taxi driver and then some members of CLC Botswana, we were welcomed with an evening meal and warm greetings, although past 10 pm. We settled to bed in the heat and the invitation to Morning Prayer at 6h30! Everyone arrived for the moving prayer experience. On the following days, we were taken through the process of the World Assembly as applied to Botswana, the history and timeline and gifts. When the meeting moved to consider the things that keep us paralyzed, Fr. Paco gave a really great input and small group reflections were deep and meaningful. I got a deep insight into this process. I am very happy that our efforts in mentoring and guiding Botswana have yielded good fruits. It was real consolation for me to meet up with Ernest, Topo, Chris and Babra again and share the good memories.

The Welcome Rite and Commitments were pronounced during the 9:30am Mass, which was concelebrated by the Cathedral Administrator, Fr Jerry Browne, and our EA, Fr Graham Pugin SJ, who accepted the commitments, while Kaye presented the members for commitment, and Veronica Wellburn, representing National Exco, presented the members with their commitment candles.
