CLC BANNER UP AHEAD AT SPIRITFEST

On 9 July 2071, CLC members in Grahamstown walked in the ecumenical parade, and it was good to see the CLC banner up ahead near at the front of the procession through the streets of Grahamstown!  Earlier in the week, Colleen and Kaye joined with others in Grahamstown to attend the Spiritfest talk by Fr Anthony Egan S.J. on the Ethics of Politics.

FEAST OF ST IGNATIUS

It was good to have CLC members from East London, Grahamstown and Port Elizabeth join  together at the Parish Mass at St Augustine’s Cathedral on Sunday, 30 July.   CLC members took up the gifts at the Offertory, and contributed generously to the collection of toiletries for the Masinyusane project, which CLC PE supports.  After a presentation on how the life of Ignatius inspires the life and work of CLC, we engaged in some discussion and then enjoyed community time during a “bring and share” lunch.

NEW MEMBERS IN PORT ELIZABETH

At the Parish Mass at St Augustine’s on 30th July, CLC: Port Elizabeth (Nazareth Group) welcomed seven new members. During a Rite of Welcome, Margot Brookes, Sr. Bongani Chuma, Denise Gillespie, Muso Kavese, Sr. Priscilla Tumulumbe Mudimba, Sr. Virginia Mungofa and Hedwig van Rooyen pronounced their statement of joining and they continue to journey with the Port Elizabeth Nazareth group.

BON VOYAGE, ASTRI, VINCENT AND SR BONGANI

We wish Astri Oehley and Vincent Sandford well.  Astri is currently visiting family in Australia for a month, and Vincent Sandford is preparing for a 3-month visit to his son in the UK.  Our prayerful wishes also go with Sr Bongani Chuma, who will be leaving on 23 August for a two-month stay with the Nazareth Sisters in England.

NATIONAL ASSEMBLY: 29 SEPTEMBER-3 OCTOBER 2017

Planning is well underway for the National Assembly at La Verna from 29 September -3 October 2017. The PE Groups have organised some fundraising initiatives towards covering accommodation costs during the Assembly. Brother Michael Burke, of the Christian Brothers, will be facilitating the National Assembly which will focus on the theme of EXPLORING FAMILY AND CLC.

MASINYUSANE PROJECT

CLC: PE still support the wonderful work of the Masinyusane project in the field of education. On 27 July, Kaye attended the Masinyusane AGM, where detailed reports were given on their Literacy Projects with Foundation Phase pupils at Ben Sinuka and Seyisi Primary Schools in Port Elizabeth, as well as their ongoing support of the tertiary students who are a part of the Masinyusane project.
