EASTERN CAPE REGIONAL NEWS

OCTOBER 2016

BREAKING NEWS

Monica Ndlovo, Byron, Siyabonga and a couple of other ex-Cape Town CLC members are now in Durban and have started their CLC group there.  Some of you will remember Monica from the PE Assembly.  It is wonderful to hear that they have regrouped.  So we are expanding the EC region to link them in.

CLC RETREAT

The retreat at the beginning of September was a great spiritual event for both directors (Fr Graham Pugin S.J., Kaye and Sr Geraldine) and retreatants. It was super to have William from East London, Michele from Cape Town, Tiksie, Vincent and Colleen from PE, Sisters of Mercy (Breda and Martha), Nazareth (Bongani) and Assumption (Pikolwethu and Kgomotso), Marist Brother (Christopher), and Lenor, Margaret and Marie with us.  The support and help of Colleen and Tiksie in the lead up was much appreciated.

THANKS FOR PRAYERS

On 3 April, Baby Laura was born to Augustina and William (CLC: EL). She was two months premature and in the neonatal ICU for some time. William and Augustina are grateful for all our prayers and are happy to report that Laura is progressing well, and in good health.  Here is a recent photograph of William and Laura.

COMING EVENT

The Sisters of Mercy, serving Addo, Dunbrody and Krikwood, have organised a pilgrimage for the closing of the Jubilee year of Mercy, to take place on Saturday 19th November. Dunbrody is a sacred site where Abbot Francis Pfanner began his mission in 1879 and where the Jesuits later ministered for over 50 years. The day will begin at Dunbrody School. Pilgrims will have the opportunity for quiet prayer before the Blessed Sacrament and priests will be available for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. At 2:00pm Pilgrims will begin a 2 kilometer walk to the site of the original Jesuit Church where Mass will be celebrated. Pilgrims are asked to wear comfortable walking-shoes; and are reminded to bring drinking water for the walk, and a chair/stool to sit on during the Mass.  Some from PE CLC are definitely planning to participate and we invite members from Grahamstown and East London to join us.

THE GENERAL CONGREGATION 36

We remember the members of the General Congregation 36 at their meeting in Rome, and pray for them and their discernment as they elect a new Superior General of the Society of Jesus.
